When Apple announced the Apple Watch recently, there were many companies who finally started thinking about getting into the infant wearables market and Microsoft is one of them. They did not want to be left behind, keeping in mind the increasing stats about usage of wearables, especially for tracking fitness.
Microsoft’s wearable fitness tracker is known as Microsoft Band, a fitness tracker consisting of ten sensors onboard along with a beautifully animated user interface just like Windows Phone 8.1. Unlike Apple, Microsoft has allowed the ‘Microsoft Band’ to be compatible with Android and iOS as well as Windows Phone 8.1. An app for the Band is already available across all three platforms. This early release and cross platform availability will give Microsoft Band an edge over Apple Watch and it might end up having a larger market share if the wearables trend keep on increasing.
The App to be used with Microsoft Band is known as Microsoft Health. It is designed towards people who want to have a healthier and productive lifestyle. Just like Microsoft Band is compatible with different platforms, the Microsoft Health app is compatible with popular fitness platforms such as UP by Jawbone, MapMyFitness, MyFitnessPal and RunKeeper.
The release date of this device is not yet revealed for UAE, but we will update you as soon as we have something.
