Previously, you had to register for a separate E-Gate Card which was around AED 300 per annum to access one of the fast-track E-Gates at all the UAE airports. But today GDRFA (The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs) made it possible for all the Emirates ID card holders to use the electronic gate service at the arrival wing of Terminal 3 at Dubai International Airport.

There isn’t any registration needed as well no hidden charges, it only requires a valid Emirates ID.

Mr. Obaid Muhair Bin Suroor, Major General & Deputy Director General of GDRFA stated that any UAE resident travelling through the airport can now use their ID card to access the gates but this service is not out there at all the terminals yet. For now, its just Terminal Three but it will soon be activated at all the other terminals.

The activation phase will start in Terminal One, Two and then Terminal Three at both their Departure and Arrival sections.

I think its a good step to make our life more easier. What do you say?
